Begin your ride in Edmonton and plan to stay at the Sawridge Inn Edmonton South for more than just one day to enjoy all the sites and attractions including West Edmonton Mall and Edmonton’s famous river valley. Don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy dinner at Creations Dining Room and Lounge, located right in the Sawridge Inn Edmonton South. Ride the scenic Pigeon Lake Loop. Starting at the Sawridge Inn, take the less congested black roads through towns like Devon and Calmar on your way to one of Alberta’s most popular lake destinations. Start or end your day with a coffee at the Tim Horton’s on Whyte Avenue, a popular meeting place for Edmonton riders.
Next, ride north on Highway 2 to Athabasca. The Town Athabasca has been a partner of the Hawg Flatts rally for 11 years and always gives a warm welcome to motorcyclists from all walks of life. From here, take Highway 55 east to Highway 63 and head north to Fort McMurray where you can enjoy a further ride out to the Suncor oil sands viewing site. End your day at The Sawridge Inn and Conference Centre Fort McMurray and check out the great food & beverages in the Hearthstone Lounge and Grille. Enjoy an entirely different ride as you leave Fort McMurray by taking the Anzac turn off and head south on the all new Highway 881 all the way to Lac La Biche.
Head west from Lac la Biche on Highway 55, through Athabasca and then follow Highway 2 on your next stop in Slave Lake. Check in to The Sawridge Inn and Conference Centre Slave Lake and spend a day or two taking in the natural beauty and history of the area. Be sure to check out the Boreal Centre for Bird Conservation (BCBC), the world’s only educational and research facility strategically located to study boreal birds on their breeding grounds. Take a ride up to Devonshire Beach just 5 minutes north of town where you can experience the beauty of the largest lake in Alberta while driving alongside the beach on a sand packed gravel road.
From Slake Lake follow Highway 2 to one of Alberta’s greatest treasures: the Mighty Peace Country, which offers an excellent selection of paved circle tours teeming with wildlife, stunning vistas, First Nations history and famed Peace Country hospitality. Make the Sawridge Inn and Conference Centre Peace River your base while taking it all in. The most awesome views of the Peace Valley are located within minutes of the hotel, with paved routes leading to the 12 Foot Davis Memorial site and the Sagitawa Look Out. Both sides offer breathtaking view of the Valley and the Peace River confluence where the Heart and Smoky Rivers flow into the Peace on their way to the Arctic Ocean. Take a tour on the Shaftesbury Trail which runs along the Peace River and cross the river on an authentic tugboat driven ferry. Check out ridenorth.ca for more exciting things to do sand see in this area.
From Peace River, continue South on Highway 2 where you will pass through the historic Dunvegan Valley and cross Alberta’s longest clear-span bridge, the fourth longest suspension bridge in Canada. In Grande Prairie visit the Heritage Discovery Centre where you can learn about Peace Country’s evolution from prehistoric times to present.
Continue on to Jasper, passing through Grande Cache and some stunning countryside. Once in Jasper, be sure to head south on Highway 93, Alberta’s most spectacular roadway. Visit Athabasca Falls and then return to Jasper using Highway 93A, resulting in a circle drive tailored perfectly to motorcycle riding. As a second option, take a spin up to Maligne Lake- 42 kilometres of exhilarating ride and scenery. You will not be disappointed.

Return to your home base while in the Rockies- at the Sawridge Inn and Conference Centre Jasper. Park under the covered entrance way and enjoy cozy accommodations, scrumptious food and four star amenities.
After experiencing Alberta’s Rocky Mountains either continue through the parks to B.C. or take Highway 16 back to Edmonton.
